I don’t know what “goth” actually is.
Emo: Emotional.
Scene Kids: Happy/Colorful Emos?
Haha, I don’t know.
And I don’t like labels!
>:(
Gothic people wear black all the time
Emo people are sensitive
Scene kids are happy
Goth is more of an older fad, it has to do with romantic gothic culture, vampires and the dark. Emo is a newer trend and involves more of the suicidal poetry (although gothic has the poetry too) and emos tend to dress more girly and tight whereas the gothic culture was more into old fashioned clothing. Both prize pale and thin bodies, because they are closer to death and sickness.
wtf is a scene kid?
Goth: Wears black all the time
Emo : Cuts there selves and is always depressed.
Scene kids: Just plain hyper emo kids
Goth people wear dark clothes to express the darkness within
Emo (which doesn’t exist, emo is only a type of music, but I’ll say it anyway) is being depressed.
scene people, they most of the time do it to be unique, other times, they do it so people with think they have an edge. Authentic scene kids just like the style.
Nothing.
they are all disgusting…. and need some serious psychiatric help.
Heh, well 2 of the above are music subcultures… and the other is just people trying to dress alike to fit in by not fitting in….
Goth and emo are music subcultures…
Goth is a music subculture based on goth rock, a music genre that started in the late 70′s/early 80′s out of punk rock and post punk. A bit more nihilistic and based on a darker theme than most of the rebelious punk songs of the day.
so to put it simply… a goth is just an avid fan/musician of goth rock that participates at least a little in the subculture.
Goth bands = 45 grave, Christian Death (the older band by the name not the newer one), Bauhaus, the Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Cult, the Birthday Party, The Mission UK, etc..
And more recently: Voltaire, Bella Morte, Anders Manga, London after Midnight, Cruxshadows, etc
Emo however is 3 seperate subcultures over the last 2 decades all using the same name.
First there was a music subculture that came out in the late 80′s of emotional punk rock (hence the name… emo, short for emocore/emotional hardcore punk.. based on all emotions). This subculture died out shortly thereafter.
Then in the mid 90′s another music subculture came out. (ironically enough fronted by a band that was led by the same singer whose prior band started the original emo subculture.) called emo… though this one was more focussed on the emotions from relationships gone bad. Again, it was short lived.
Finally in the last 4 years the final subuculture came out calling itself emo… which is actually more of a fashion/style subculture than a music one… as the bands people are calling emo are not from any one genre, and the current group are imitating the fashion of the second emo subculture.
Example bands would be: Fugazi, Rite of Spring, etc..
Scene… well honestly most scene kids annoy me… they remind me alot of spooky kids/mallgoths (you know goth poseurs that claim they are goth but would not know Bauhaus if they got a pointy boot to the eye.) and the current run of emo kids that have no clue on the music at all.
goth=
A Goth is someone who is usually into the darker side of the world. Where punk is mostly about government, freedom, and politics, Goth is mostly about religion(theology), philosophy, and mysticism. A true Goth is not a depressed suicidal person. They are deep into thought and feeling, know who they are. A goth, generally do not worship Satan, although you can be a Goth and of any religion, many are Christian, and I know a few that are Catholic. Goths likes to be individual and often creates or modify’s their clothing. Usually consisting of mainly black. Spikes are usualy not a goth thing. Tribal designs and religios related jewlry are common, such as crucifixes and pentagrams. Most are very intelligent and creative, and dont necissarily do drugs, think about murder, cut themselves, or sacrifice animals, and again with the worship Satan thing. Although many of them are pagan or wiccan.
emo=
the Mtv, Hot Topic and Magazine definition of emo is someone who wears alot of black, arm bands to cover their wrists and sre depressing and always upset. The adult or smart person definition of it is “emotional child” which is a kid who hates their life and suffer mental and teenage angst, they just think that they are kids who want attention. People (naive people) think Emo music are songs that contain the words blood, pain, wrists and the phrase “die for love”. but emo is mostly a fashon sorta thing where people wear skinny jeans and vans, like punk and rock music andjust wanna b differant.
scene=
The word “scene” coves a large spectrum throughout recent history, but its most modern definition is used to describe certian subcultures and movements. The most notoriously famous and targeted is the alternative music scene, or more specifically, branches of the alternative music scene such as hardcore, indie, fashoionxcore, etc. A breed of scenesters (people on the scene) has begun to come to the forefront. These scenesters are usually very music-savvy and loyal to a few specific genres (typically hardcore, metal, indie, retro, 80′s new wave, classic rock, etc. to name a few), of which they dress to exemplify. It is hard to pin down a style for a scene male or female, considering the trends amongst them vary from coast to coast, and certian fads come in and out within their ranks. Typically, though, many scene kids will have facial piercings, tattoos, and longer hair. It is not unusual to see teased hair with long bangs on males, or short fauxhawks (a mohawk without the sides shaved, a fashion-friendly version) on females. It is almost a throwback to the revolution of Britian’s glam era, very androgynous and fresh. Scenesters take a lot of pride in their overall image, and often they appreciate shock value. Oftentimes they are thrifty, employing their abilities as bargian-hunters and do-it-yourself gurus to do something unique with their style. Large vintage sunglasses, retro patterns, tight jeans, classic metal/band tees, plastic jewelry, and heavy eye makeup are just some of the incorperations into scene style for either sex. This style and showmanship is at its height during shows (concerts), where often scene kids will meet their friends and size up strangers who visit their turf. There indeed is competition among scenesters…sometimes friendly, sometimes not. Shows are in fact not just concerts, but often a means of socialization for those on the scene. Those people who partake in scene lifestyle often choose to date/socialize only with those like them, which can cause bitterness or rejection to outsiders.
The music scene is often associated with other areas that scenesters are interested in, which is liekely, art, photography, creative writing, poetry, tattoos & piercings, civil rights, animal rights, etc. Many scene kids have strong beliefs about these things and consider those who do not to be “posers.” They feel that their scene style is not only a fashion statement, but an all-encompassing lifestyle. Many scene kids incorperate their future plans into their lifestyle, going into careers such as journalism, photography, artistry, piercing, tattooing, working for magazines, being musicians, hairstylists, running venues and/or coffee shops, etc. This tends to cause scene kids to congregate, visit, or even move to big cities to find opportunities to meet other scenesters, find jobs that suit them, or to live where they have a plethora of activities that they enjoy readily at their disposal.
Recently internet revolutions like myspace.com have provided a new means for the ideas of scene culture to be spead, for scenesters to find new friends, bands, and activities. Scensters design stylish and graphic profile pages to both draw attention
goth is all about death, darkness, etc. style involves pale face makeup, black lipstick and eye makeup, dark colored and old fashioned looking clothes. lace, fishnet, and combat boots are also popular.
emo is about being an outsider, feeling rejected, etc. style involves heavy eye makeup, shaggy black hair, tight and dark colored clothes such as skinny jeans and band tee-shirts. thick black glasses, converse, and studded belts are also popular.
scene is all about uniqueness, standing out, etc. style involves big hair and bright colored makeup, brightly colored clothes often featuring characters such as hello kitty, gir, and kuromi, skinny jeans and lots of accessories. hair bows, brightly colored hair dye, and ballet flats or heels are also popular.
